William D. Thorpe Jr.
Will graduated from SUNY Utica with a BA in Human Services. He began
a career working with the mentally and physically challenged that spanned
14 years. He worked for both the state of NY and in the private
sector.
After much consideration,
Will decided to leave Human Services. His desire to improve
the quality of life of people led him to orthopedic bracing. He
began his new career with Donjoy, one of the largest bracing companies
in the world. While his primary responsibilities were in sales,
he got the most from direct patient contact, making a difference to others.
His desire to help his patients took him away from
sales and on to several smaller O and P companies where he focused his
career on patient care. This superior patient care and follow-up
established a loyal following which continues today. He developed
extensive knowledge in sports and rehabilitative orthoses. During
this time he also received his certification as an Orthotic Fitter and
also co-invented, designed and patented a multi-functional patella knee
brace called the “Victory Brace”, which continues to be distributed
world-wide.
Will joined NEOPS in November 2006, hoping a larger
company would afford him the opportunity to tap into the expertise of
others while continuing to make a difference to others. He continues
to focus on the growing field of sports medicine and rehabilitation. Most
recently, he was appointed as one of the Chairpersons of the Empire State
Games Sports Medicine Symposium being held in July at Pace University.
