Andrew M. Weingartner, CPO
I have been working in the field of Orthotics and Prosthetics (O&P) for more than 16 years. Starting as a technician, I worked on and/or fabricated nearly every type of orthotic and prosthetic device. After five years as a technician, I attended Northwestern University's Prosthetic and Orthotic Certificate program in Chicago. I was American Board Certified in Prosthetics in 1998 and American Board Certified in Orthotics in 2000. I was drawn to this profession because of the opportunity it gives me to enhance people's lives, especially post trauma when their lives can be disrupted and their expectations uncertain.

The technological advances in orthotics and prosthetics over the last ten years make the field very exciting. I am motivated to stay abreast of all these advances to assess them and apply them to my patients when appropriate. I regularly attend continuing education seminars to learn about the latest advances in both technology and techniques. In addition, I give continuing education lectures to physical therapists, occupational therapists, physicians, physician's assistants, residents, case managers and other healthcare professionals to broaden their knowledge and appreciation of the innovative technology and componentry in the field of O and P.

But technology will not help someone recover better than the human connection which I work towards establishing with my patients. If I can ease their anxiety by answering questions, showing them what to expect, demonstrating the function of a device or putting them in touch with another patient so they can better understand that their concerns and fears are not unique, then I know that I have made a difference and helped them on the road to recovery.

I strive to be a caring, effective, professional practitioner. My goal is to positively impact my patient's lives, to improve their quality of life, and to make a difference every day.

I joined the NEOPS team in their Stamford office in September of 2006 after working for a private O&P company in Port Jefferson, NY for 15 years. I am a member of the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, Inc. (ABC), the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP) and the New York State Chapter of AAOP.

My educational background includes: a Certificate in Prosthetics, Northwestern University (Chicago, IL), May 1996; and a Bachelor of Science, Forestry, University of Maine (Orono, ME), August 1982.
